This year I had seven “Short Fiction” works published. Some are free to read online, so I’ll start there.
- “Last Dance” – a haunted church confessional story over at Cemetery Gates Society from Cemetery Gates Media.
- “Gods and Monsters” – a cosmic adventure horror story in Starward Shadows Quarterly Issue 001.
- “Carne Dolce” – good old fashioned cake horror in Frost Zone Zine Issue 3.
- “Ghost Vision” – your average ghost story (or is it?) in Trembling With Fear at Horror Tree.
The final three stories are paywalled anthologies, but I’m happy to send nominating members of writers’ associations copies of my own stories.
- “Death Toll” – a chilling cemetery story in Campfire Macabre from Cemetery Gates Media.
- “Glowing Eyes” – an urban legend tale about melon heads in The Cryptid Chronicles from DBND Publishing.
- “The Lost Lake Massacre” – an absurd, creature feature in Shiver Anthology from Nico Bell Fiction.
And for a “how-to” on how to recommend works for such awards these stories may be eligible for, I’m going to borrow (steal) from Gordon B. White, who provided a nice, succinct summary:
Please remember that for Horror Writers Association nominations, the preliminary long-list ballot is chosen in part based on the number of total recommendations a piece gets, so even if a piece is already on the Stoker Recommended Reading List you need to recommend your favorite works again.
How to recommend works for the Stoker Award: For HWA members, log into the HWA website’s (http://horror.org) “Members Only” section on the far right of the menu bar. After you log in, under LINKS, click on “Bram Stoker Awards.” On the next page, look in the upper right corner for the red button “RECOMMEND A WORK.”
If you’re a member of one of the professional writers’ associations (e.g., HWA), feel free to contact me for copies of these works.

**That final note from Gordon also, of course, applies to me–let me know if you need a copy of one of the anthology stories. Happy reading and hope you enjoy anything you found here!
